Re applying thermal paste to stock intel i5 4690k heatsink

Is it okay to re apply thermal paste to the stock intel cpu fan I'm going to give it to my friend and I want to make sure this is okay to do. Before applying I will clean with isopropyl alcohol.thankyou in advance if you need any clarification just ask.

ya there is absolutely no problem with doing that. go for it. might even lower temps a few Celsius if you have decent paste.

yeah, just be sure to clean it with something that won't leave anything behind. I use a torn off piece of coffee filter with the alcohol, as cotton can leave little pieces of fabric behind.

I have an i5-4690K and had to reapply the thermal paste after I sent a defective motherboard back. It's working happily and at low temps.
