Have 2x4gb of ram, Can I add 2x8gb to make 24gb of ram?

So recently I came to a conclusion I want to upgrade my ram, due to gta 5 and me having a lot of things open when I play games. I currently have 2x4gb Adata 1866mhz ram I wonder if I can add the same ram just 2x8gb. Games and programs uses more that 90 percent of my ram which result in the stutters and lag when ram isn't enough. I just wonder if this works, or I would have to stick with 16gb.

yeah, you can add 2 sticks of ram in the remaining slots. add the same memory you already have.

Depends on the motherboard you have. Run Crucial's system scanner and it will tell you what you need to know on what will work:

You might be able to run them but there is no guarantee that the 2 kits will work together. Also, if you are running Windows 7 Home Premium, the OS limit on RAM is 16gb.

Yeah, 16 GB RAM is more than ok. Both for heavy multitasking and gaming it works well. In most cases, if you add 2 more of those sticks you have, they will work, but referring to your manual is always better
