I'm sure this question had been asked a lot (sorry for this redundancy), but I would like some clarifications before buying AMD's FX 8350 CPU off Amazon (w/ 100 dollah gift card :D) >>>>

Anyways, I was wondering if could play arma 3 on ultra (at least with a good 40 something frames) in single player (maybe multiplayer) if I upgraded the cpu.

BTW: Will I need to replace my Motherboard if I am just upgrading to another AMD CPU (currently have one APU CPU inside)? <---- this is a concern as this is way out of my budget to go spending loads just to replace a motherboard and get the Win 8 operating system on a disk :\

Thank you for your input ladies and gents :D

Basically this CPU here: http://www.amazon.com/AMD-FD8350FRHKBOX-FX-8350-8-Core-Processor/dp/B009O7YUF6/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1451550220&sr=1-1&keywords=AMD+FX+8350#customerReviews

Also, if I did not overclock the FX 8350 (shall I install it in my computer), will I get at least decent frames (30+ frames) for Arma 3 without any sort of tuning or tinkering with CPU OC?

Damn so that means that my AMD A8-5500 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics has to have my whole motherboard replaced Fuuuuuu D:

btw Motherboard is an ASUS M11BB --- Windows 8 came as a default when the computer was bought (no installation card) ----- dat means I need to get another copy of windows 8? D:

Yes, that's an fm2 socket. It's still amd, but it's a different socket than the one the fx 8350 fits which is an am3+. If you don't have an installation disc you'll probably need to buy windows. Maybe someone with more experience can help there regarding an oem win8 install with no disc. Typically systems like that have a recovery disc and there are ways to make an install disc (potentially). I'm thinking you'll still need a retail copy of windows to install on a new motherboard.

Rather than tell you wrong that you can just somehow reuse your current windows license I'd rather err on the side of caution. To go to an fx 8350 you'd need a cpu, an am3+ motherboard with decent power phases and preferably vrm with heatsinks - not just the cheapest am3+ motherboard at random - and a copy of windows.

The fx 8350 is an 8 core cpu and pulls quite a bit of power, low end inexpensive motherboards often don't have heatsinks on the vrm. That can result in the voltage regulators supplying power to the cpu to overheat and cause throttling even if the cpu itself isn't overheating. Something like a gigabyte 970a ud3, asus m5a97 r2.0 (not the le version, it lacks vrm heatsinks), asrock 970 extreme 4, msi 970 gaming etc would be decent choices for the 8 core fx. They range from around $70-95.

All in all around $360 give or take for the 8350, a 212 evo for decent cooling, motherboard like the msi 970 gaming and a copy of win8.

You do not need to buy windows if you want to transfer to Windows 10. You simply put Win 10 on a flash drive, install it and when you get to activate it, you can simply use the Win8 CD-key. Ohh and by the way, you will not regret investing in that 8350 and a decent motrherboard :)
Can you tell us what PSU do you have?
