I recently re-installed Windows 8.1, after being overwhelmed with adware, this was a last resort. I tried to activate windows through settings but the menu wouldn't even open. It sent me to the Start menu every time I clicked it. I tried the slui 3 command and it said my product key is invalid. Windows 8.1 was pre-installed on the computer and the key was on the box the computer came in.
