ok but you will see at this page on label nr2 think like that "Core 2 Quad Q9650 - Any 45nm quad core Xeon SUPPORTED"
so this is the think of author of this post: If my mobo support c2q q9650 and BIOS is compatible, then you can run any 45nm xeon, so where is your logic about this?

Did you read the table "Xeons that are compatible with each chipset"? Compatibility for the 5XXX is No. In the section you are refrring to it says "You can run these Xeons (if supported by chipset)"; the Q45 chipset doesn't support the Xeon E5420. You don't have to believe me or anyone else; try it and you'll know for sure.
