Hello! :)

So I had a question regarding which monitor I should pick up. For practically the same price I have the option for the WQHD and 4k. I wanted a monitor with G-Sync. After doing some research I'm still confused as to which would be better to purchase for my setup. I understand with my single GPU I won't be 4k gaming with new titles. Would it be worth to have a 4k monitor, run in 1920x1080 or slightly higher and upscale to the 4k screen? Or would I just be better off going the 2560 x 1440 WQHD?

I really want to invest into G-Sync because I've seen the benefits from it, so I'm sold on that.

Edit: Or would I be better off going to the 1920x1080 monitor instead of the higher resolution ones. I would prefer to play in max settings with at least 60 FPS.

To help here are my system specs:
i7 4790k 4.0GHz
16GB RAM 1866MHz
EVGA Nvidia GTX 980Ti
500GB SSD

Well the WQHD one goes up to 144hz, so if you want to play blazing fast FPS type games and get the fastest FPS you can get, that might be the option. If you want stunning visuals, the 4K is going to give a nicer image and allow you to play 4K content.

The WQHD has 3,686,400 pixels and max rate of 144hz
4K has 8,294,400 pixels and max rate of 60hz

Now 4K is about 2.3 times the number of pixels over WQHD, but 144 is about 2.4 times the speed of 60hz, so either way, the total number of pixels per second to max out each monitor is the same.

That said, a single 980ti can play WQHD around 60fps or better for most current games, whereas 4K starts to drop a lot and might not be so playable.

In reality, to take advantage of either monitor, you'd do better off with 2 cards in SLI as a single card can't do 144hz@1440 or 60hz@4K.
