which cpu and why ?

so i am going to build a pc this summer ( :/ ) and i dont want which cpu to chose..so picking the intel core i3 4170 will me much better for me and my money.. but there is also an intel core i5 4460 which is good.. if i select i3.will it be many differences? or just some fps.

the build that i planned to buy is this . ( if you have any other parts to recommend i would like to check them :D ! ) :

cpu:intel core i? .
gpu:Gigabyte GeForce gtx960 4gb windforce OC
mobo:gigabyte b85m-d3h
ram:kingston hyperx fury black 8gb ddr3 - 1600mhz ( 2x4gb )
case:corsair carbide spec - 01
psu:corsair builder series CX500M 80plus Bronze
HDD : western digital caviar blue 1tb 3.5"

For sure choose the i5-4460, ideal for your system. It's fully compatible other than that.

Only suggested change is to change the Corsair CX 500w to a Seasonic 500+ watts.



That's also junk, mind.

I'm going to tell you what you dont want to hear. if you are building it this summer then figure it out this summer. what is the best parts to buy for the money can be completely different in a week, and will almost certainly be in half a year.

When you are there you need to set a budget and play around with builds within that budget. I5 is obviously better. think about what resolution will you be playing at. do you want room to upgrade? if so you prob want to get a better psu. ect

That PSU is a OK budget PSU that is rated at low temps so it is not suitable for being stressed much. Will it handle your build yes because you have selected bigger than needed but there are lot better PSU's on the market that can be snatched up on good deals from time to time.

corsair doesn't make their own power supplies


they put their brand on units made by other companies


some are utter shit, others are awesome


cx models are crap for gaming systems for example

The CX430 is rated higher by Jonnyguru: 9. It has excellent ripple suppression, just poor choice of capacitors. He reviewed the first one which had better capacitors though, now they have worse capacitors but they're still ok for the money.

The W1 500 I wouldn't say is better than the CX 430, but each to their own I guess.
