Coping steam game data files from friend pc to mine

So my friend and i just bought left for dead 2 bundle from steam. He have very high speed internet connection so he downloaded it. i just picked up his left for dead 2 game data files folder which was 12gb from his steamapp folder in a pen drive. so i wanted to ask that how i cane place that game data on my pc so that steam doesn't download it again but insted recognize that game data files ad my game data files. plz help

1. Drop the L4D2 files in your \Steam\steamapps\common\ folder
2. tell steam to install L4D2, it should automatically pick the same location (make sure the folder names match like "left4dead2" instead of "left 4 dead 2"
3. Steam will detect the already downloaded files and just fill in the rest of the minor data.
