Recently our home internet has been slow, so I unplugged the modem and router and when I reconnected thetm we had no connectivity at all. This seems to be a problem whenever we lose power or unplug the devices. We have an Arris modem and a net gear router

Are you turning the modem on first, waiting for the lights to come on, and then plugging in the router? I've seen it before where people plug in the wrong order or same time and their internet didn't come back on.
