1&2 ram slots not working.

this is my first build so I'm very new to all of this. When i put the ram into slots 1&3 and 2&4 for dual channel, the computer beeps 4 times, shuts down 20 seconds later, then reboots to do the exact same thing. I did troubleshooting and found that my ram slots 1&2 don't work. I plan on upgrading to a new mobo is less than a year because this one was rather cheap (59.99 asrock h97m pro). So should I run on one 4g ram, or 2x4 in seperate color channels? Will this harm the computer in any way?

Neither stick works in either slot 1 or 2? Are the 1333, 1600 or what? Sort of regardless, I'd make sure the CPU fan is firmly attached at all four connection points, if that's not it you prob have a problem with the CPUs MC (memory controller) or the mobo has a bad channel (slots 1-2 are normally channel A or 1)
