Will a 500w PSU be enough to power a GTX 970?

I currently have a GTX 960, an i5-4460 and 8gb of ram. My PSU is the Coolmax Zx-500. I can run everything I have perfectly fine with no power issues. Everything is stock and no over clocking. Would my rig be able to handle a GTX 970? I'm trying to get my computer ready for VR. Also while you're here, is the 970 a worthwhile upgrade from the 960 or should I save a little more and get the the 980? And if I should hit the 980, would my PSU be able to handle that? Thank you!

its more than enough. Im running a 6700k and an aggressively overclocked 970 on a 450 watt psu and its been very stable for months. A 500 watt is a bit overkill but not a bad choice.

There's more to a PSU that its advertised size it's 12v rail capacity and build quality are much more important. Coolmax are so low quality they can lack basic protection circuits that mixed with the other sub par parts make them dangerous to use. When these cheap pile inevitable fail they tend to take other parts with them and in extreme cases they can catch fire.
