I am building my first pcand I already bought everything excpet the gpu, I got a 650 watt seasonic psu and I just read on the specs of the gpu I want, the xfx r9 280x, requires a 750 watt psu? Is this a mistake because I looked all over the internet and a lot of people are saying that a 500w psu is enough for this card?
here is my psu

Solution
The R9 280x power consumption is around 220 but can in some cases reach the 300watt mark but still the PSU you got is clearly enough for the GPU and is even Gold Certificated and brings a high efficience.
You can use the PSU without any problems even a 980 Ti would have no problem using this PSU.

their req are that way because alot of power supplys over rate the output of their units and some cpus draw more then others. for example one of my computers runs a r9 280x, 12hdds, 2 ssd, 8 sticks of ram, a sound card, and dual quad core cpus. it runs on a 750 watt psu but im approaching the max the psu can handle, for the average computer the req will be pretty high
