So I am trying to decide between buying an ASUS GTX 970 STRIX, or an MSI R9 390 GAMING.

I would like to know your opinions on which one I should get! Also if anyone has either of these GPU's, I would appreciate it if you gave some of your average FPS' or benchmarks, along with your CPU please!

Thanks!

I would go with the 970. Although 390 is a more powerful card out of the box is has very small oc potential. Also the 3xx line is plagued by various problems. Overheating, rebooting issues, broken ports etc. The 970 has proven to be quite stable and oc friendly. As for which version, if I could EVGA all the way.

The STRIX 970 are decent with the condition that you plan to keep them at the stock clocks. They're terrible overclockers though. They're limited by the 1 x 8 pin power connector, and the 1.212v maximum that's limited at the VRM. So, even a bios flash doesn't fix it.

Personally, I'd go with the 390, if my only choice of 970 were the STRIX.
