Hello All,

I'm very new to pc building and these forums so just bear that in mind. Like the title says, this is my first ever attempt at building a pc. However, I did do extensive research and tutorial-watching before attempting to do so. Here is my parts list:

First off, since I know this will be the first thing you all recommend, I have already looked through this sticky:

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems

I have very closely read through and followed all of the steps, except for step 11. I didn't want to remove my CPU and CPU Cooler if I didn't have to because that's what I found to be to most difficult and delicate part of the build.

Also, it should be known that I made the mistake of fully assembling the PC before testing the motherboard or other hardware to make sure they worked.

Here is a quick overview of the build, test, and troubleshooting steps I have already gone through:

  • Fully assemble pc
Connect graphics card to monitor though HDMI
Turn on power supply, motherboard LEDs light up and begin "breathing"
Power on pc using case power button, case fans and CPU cooling fan spin up, CPU LED lights up
Spam delete key, no image on screen after >5 minutes
    Sulk
Retry using integrated motherboard graphics with both HDMI and VGA cables - no image
Repeat using different monitor - no image
Take out all PCI cards (wifi, soundcard, videocard) - no image
Try one stick of RAM in each slot - no image
Unplug SSD and HDD - no image
    Order motherboard speaker from Amazon
    Breadboard pc, install mobo speaker
Power on - 1 long 2 short beeps - no image
Insert 1 stick of RAM - no beeps - no image
    More sulking

So this is where I'm at now. Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreaciated. I'm not acquainted with anyone with experience building PCs so I'm pretty much in the dark on this one. Here are some pictures:

I used a pea-sized amount in the center of the CPU. I did not see any paste coming out from under the cooler.
