MSI Titanium M.2 slot covered by MSI gtx 980 ti Lightning, heating issue?

I'm redoing my system build and have the MSI z170a Titanium edition motherboard along with the MSI gtx 980 ti Lightning. I'm interesting in upgrading my boot/gaming storage to the newer m.2 form factor such as the Samsung 950 Pro.

When I install my 980 ti Lightning, it completely covers the m2_1 port (see image below). I was interested in installing 2 of those drives in raid 0 but I'm now worried about the drive in the m2_1 port being stuck under my gpu and especially worried about there being some over heading issues as a result.

Should I be worried or will the proximity of the m.2 ssd and the gpu not matter? Should I only install one m.2 drive and only use the m2_2 port or if I am installing a single drive does it need to be in the m2_1 port.

edit: my image wasn't showing for some reason.

Solution
Think it should be fine, not the way I would design it - having the M.2 off to the side would be better, but...whatever. Many mobos have things like SATA ports and USB ports that end up sitting under GPUs with no problems

I'm pretty unfamiliar with how much heat ssds might generate so be patient with me here, do the m.2 ssds not generate very much heat? I'm sure it would be no concern with the sata ports and usb ports being covered because there is only a cable connecting into those, but in this case the whole ssd will actually physically sit under the gpu

Would have to check the mobo, I don't use MSI mobos for client builds. M.2 drives can definitely get warm, would hope their engineers took that into account, but again no telling, I've stayed away from them for a few years now - have you checked with them?

Well, I would hope they had taken that into consideration as well. I have not checked with them. Here is a significantly better picture to illustrate the potential issue. You can see the second m.2 slot in the foreground, you can just see the start of the first m.2 slot under the gpu. They would have SOME clearance, but not much.

You might be interested in >this< . I had the exact same dilemma you do. I'd double check clearance for your particular setup just to be sure. I recommend everyone to try and look for cooling options on these little guys. That or at the very least make sure there is some decent airflow getting to them.
