Mixing Different Types of Ram

I have just ordered all the needed parts for my first custom-made PC (The specs will be below), when a friend offered me a few sticks of old ram he had. I did some research, finding the exact same ram here : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231225 . My question is, would i be able to use the ram shown below with 2 sticks of the ram shown above? The mobo only has 4 ram slots and are dual channeled. Will i be able to use the ram i was given with the ram i purchased and running into few (if any) problems?

An easy answer is possibly. The ram you purchased vs the one your friend gave you is just way different. The timings are off. The sets have two different mhz also the voltage is different from one another. IF you have time to mess with manually setting the timing and DRAM voltage then that would help. But no harm is trying them out if it were me put the Ripjaws in the two black ram slots on the mobo, then the other set in the blue

Thanks for the tip, but do you think the ones i received would still work (if possible) given that it is a triple channel kit on a dual channel motherboard?
