G'day and happy new year!
My friend has a Dell laptop that's currently running integrated graphics and he's considering getting an external gpu and running it through his expresscard slot.

Since I'm a desktop man myself I was a little skeptical of an external gpu on a laptop so I thought I'd turn to you guys.
First off is this idea do-able? (space is no object and budget is around $200 for the card and a power supply)
What external gpu would you recommend to match his cpu?
And are there power supplies made specifically for this? Especially since I'd imagine the card wouldn't be using anywhere near the 350 watts of the smallest power supply I've been able to find.

Specs are:
cpu: Intel Core i5-560M @ 2.67Ghz ( http://ark.intel.com/products/49653 )
Memory: 4Gb of DDR3 (though he'll be slapping in a second 4GB stick to make it 8GB if he's going to put in an external gpu and we've made sure the laptop can fit it)
Monitor native resolution: 1440 X 900
If you need to know any other specs or anything else please tell me.
Also upgrading this laptop is currently the only practical thing he can do.

Thanks in advance for any help.

not a good idea, anything decent would be bottlenecked to hell because of the x1 slot speed
