Hi, im planning to upgrade to an i7 4790k and have the msi g45 z87 mobo. I know it will work with bios updated to 1.7 or newer but will it decrease performance of the CPU comparing it if i should buy a new z97 motherboard instead? Also can a 720w 80+ bronze psu handle 2 gtx 770 sli?

Solution
I have two rigs at home over the break at the moment, one has an i7 4790K on a Z87, and the other has an i7 4790K on a Z97. There is almost no detectable difference, and the Z87 is faster in some benchmarks. (one motherboard is mITX, the other mATX, and one has 16GB RAM, the other only 8Gb)

The Coolermater M Silents, are Tier 3 PSUs, so not recommended for the really high performance use, especially if they get hit with two GPU demand spikes at the same time from your SLI rig. Two 770s can reach at least 450W, with another 100W or so from your overclocked CPU (mine get to 110W) and a bit more for the rest of the system. I might try it on a really good 750W PSU, but I'd want 800 to 850W. You PSU is weaker than I'd use or recommend.

Will the fractal design newton r3 be a good choice? I know its overkill with 1000 watts but its cheaper than 750s in the most cases here in sweden.
