Adding a new GPU along existing GPU to act as a dedicated PhysX card disables Sound Card (doesn't recognize it in bios)

When I add a new GPU (MSI GTX 970) along my existing Evga GTX 980ti Hybrid to act as a dedicated PhysX card, it somehow disables my sound card, so that even bios doesn't recognize it (Sound Blaster Z). On-board audio works fine and the sound card works fine without the extra GPU.

I've tried to use DDU to fresh install GPU drivers, re-install the Sound Blaster drivers, disable on-board audio via bios etc etc.. I have no idea why this is happening, have I missed something? I would post a pic if my phone wouldn't have a cracked screen.. sorry about that.
Thank you in advance.

Specs:
Windows 10
MSI Z97 Gaming 3 (latest bios version)
i7-4790k OC 4,4
4x4 DDR3
Evga GTX 980ti Hybrid
1000w Super Flower Platinum Plus
2x hdd and 2x ssd

Could you please state how you've aligned the PCI-E devices along the slots on your motherboard? To me it looks like one of your PCI-E slots that your sound card is populating is disabled once you populate another PCI-E slot lower down the order.

Slots

• 1 x PCIe 3.0 x16 slot (PCI_E2, supports x16 speed)
• 1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 slot (PCI_E4, supports x4 speed)*
• 2 x PCIe 2.0 x1 slots
• 3 x PCI slots
* The PCIe x1 slots (PCI_E1, PCI_E3) will be unavailable when installing an expansion card in the PCI_E4 slot.
