Is the i5 4690k strong enough to power two r9 390's in crossfire??

I have ordered an r9 390 g1 edition and am also looking at ordering an i5 4690k with an msi z97m mobo. my question is will the i5 overclocked be powerful enough to handle two r9 390's in crossfire ?

my build before adding a second r9 390 will consist off the following:

cpu : i5 4690k
mobo : Msi Z97m
Gpu: Gigabyte r9 390 G1
Ram : Hyper X fury 8gb single stick @ 1600mhz
storage: 2 500gb hard drives 3.5inch @ 7500rpm (not sure what brand)
Psu : Corsair Cx 750w

I do know that i will have to add a bigger psu when getting another r9 390, most likely going to upgrade to a 1000w psu as well as changing the ram (16gb at around 2133mhz)

i do have another question, if the i5 4690k can't cut it then should i revert back to my original choice and go for a fx 9590 and overclock it to 5ghz? i have seen a lot of builds running that fx cpu with two r9 390x's as well as some builds running two gtx 980's without any problems. since i have not order the i5 and mobo yet what do you guys think i should do?

I am open to suggestions so if anyone can suggest an alternative cpu from eithe amd or intel im all ears however my budget for a cpu is around £200 gbp.

Thanks, would I need to overclock it or would it be okay at stock? I'm still new to building pc's this would be my 3rd pc build since starting 2 months ago.

If a 4690K with an overclock can't, then nothing else can do significantly better.
And... the inefficient 9590 can't come even close.

On your plans with your apparent budget, I suggest:

No sense in not going slylake on a new build. i5-6600K and a Z170 based motherboard,

Whatever, buy your full 16gb ram up front, 2 x 8gb. Initially, a single stick will run in slower single channel mode. And, there is potential for incompatibilities if you try to add a second stick. Ram vendors do not support that. For skylake, ram speed is irrelevant. 2133 or 2400 ddr4 is fine.

Why 2 drives? Raid-0 does not improve performance.
Build using a ssd for windows at least. 240gb at least. Add a hard drive for storage later if you need to.

R9-390 is power hungry. GTX970 is better, and a 750w psu can run two in sli.

i don't plan on getting the other gpu for at least 3-4 months and already know i will be needing a 1000w psu.

@ geofelt i built my first pc on budget off £500 less than 2 months ago so i decided to get a single 500gb 3.5 hard drive and then added another down the line because i maxed out my storage pretty quickly. i would not mind going for a skylake cpu but could you find me a mobo that supports crossfire as well as being micro atx? i don't really want to spend more money on another case after having only purchased my most recent one roughly two weeks ago. in my opinion the despite how power hungry the r9 390 is, it is still slightly better than the gtx 970 not to mention cheaper. my boot time is pretty fast and since i don't really need fast write speed i don't see the need for having to buy one, i don't edit let alone do anything production based. I would rather spend £25 on a 500gb mechanical drive and utilize the space appropriately.

@DonkeyOatie for the time being i plan or using one r9 390 for ultra wide gaming and then either getting two additional ultra wide monitors when purchasing the other r9 390 or getting three 2K freesync monitors.
