My i7-4770k Intel CPU usually sits around 88 degrees celsius while gaming and 65 idle. im pretty sure it was not as hot before, but i recently decided to close the side door on my computer.

I was often prompted with American Megatrends cpu overtemperature error whenever i restart my computer

My specs are:
-i7-4770k Intel CPU
-Z87-Deluxe/Quad Asus Motherboard
-Corsair CX750M power source
--A front fan, back fan, powersource fan, and cpu fan: (the cpu fan is from intel)
-----According to Asus AISuite:
--------------------CPU: ~~2000rpm
--------------------Front: ~~1000rpm
--------------------Back: ~~1950rpm

I am not quite sure what seems to be the problem, i read about thermal paste needing to be put in, but i also discovered that Intel heatsinks come with thermal paste already on them. I found out that the paste needs to be changed once in a while too, but i just built my computer in 2013, so would that be the problem?

Anyways thanks for reading this and any input would be excellent.

Solution
Your cpu is hot,but your temps are too high to be considered normal. The best way to deal with overheat is to remove the cooler, clean the paste, apply new and seat your cooler carefully and correct.Try this first and monitor your temps.

Yah thanks, I used compressed air to clean out a bunch of dust, turns out there was a ton on the heat sink, and then i cleaned and reapplied thermal paste and my computer is now much better
