CRYORIG R1 Universal CPU Cooler

6r12co.jpg

Unmatched Compatibility
Zero RAM Interference

Focusing on providing the widest range of compatibility, the R1 utilizes an asymmetric slanted heatpipe layout to move the front heatsink fin stack further away from the RAM zone. Also, fitted with a 13mm thin XT140 the CRYORIG R1 offers optimal compatibility for RAM with tall heat spreaders on both Intel (115X/1366/775) and AMD platforms.

Depends on voltage, in terms of temps. 4790ks need heavy cooling, especially if you overclock heavily and run the voltage past 1.2.
Do you have a big case with lots of fans? I have a d14, but I only ever used it with the 1230v3 I had in this system before I got a 4790k. I use a CM 140xl now, with aftermarket fans. There's a lot of variables.
Big air is not without issues just like water cooling. *Shrug*
For me, keeping it cool was more important than the possibility of a leaky AIO. I don't move my system, so the weight and danger of damaging the mobo, wasn't relevant in regards to big air systems.
To answer your first question, "is it good?", the answer is yes, with caveats.

That has a fan controller, doesn't it? You'll have to tinker with the speeds to get the temps you desire. Could always hook the fans to the mobo and set up fan profiles. Don't have the case, or ever played with one, but it looks like it will be a help cooling that chip, rather than a hindrance.
