Trying to fix an old PC I've bought that mainboard with a E2160 CPU and I decided to upgrade to a faster supported CPU.

Based on the specs in the manual (Motherboard_Intel_Socket775_945G7MD-8EKRS2H_manual_English_945P(G)7MD-En-V1.0-1010.pdf)

which states

"Supports Intel ® Core TM 2 Duo,Core TM 2 Extreme Edition, Pentium ® 4 Extreme
Edition, Pentium ® D, Pentium ® 4, Celeron ® D processors in an LGA775
package"

I've taken a E7500 CPU.

But while the E2160 is starting with a beep and giving a video signal of the BIOS the E7500 just does nothing (no beep, no video).

I've found the thread
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/287543-30-foxconn-n15235-cpus-supported

for a similar MB. There it says that only CPU up to E6850 are supported.

Is that also valid for "my" MB?
And why the heck didn't the manual tell me that details? Where would I find these information anyway if not on the foxconn support side?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Oh, and by browsing that cpusupport list I also observe that the Q8200S (Core 2 Quad) is supported. My original and now broken N15235 MB (Packard Bell OEM version) was delivered with that one. My original plan was to put the old CPU in the new MB. But that CPU does also not work in the new MB. As it was not listed in the specification, I did assume this to be the reason for failure. That CPU could of course also be broken, being the reason for the original MB failure.

Well, both CPU (E7500 and Q8200S) "only" have "P*" rating in the list if that matters...

Does that help any further?

I've upgraded BIOS to 669F1P63 (former version was 06 at the end) which is the most up-to-date on the FOXCONN support site.
-> no improvement

What now?
Should I try with E6850 or E7400?
