If I put a i7 4790K into a H97M - E will it work? What effects does this have on the CPU?

So say I put a i7 4790K into a h97M -E will the processor still work, I think the CPU is meant to use a Z97 Motherboard from what I can gather.

Solution
The cpu is not meant to be used to a z97 motherboard. You could get an h81 or h97 motherboard and use it with your current cpu.The only difference would be on overclocking if you intend to do it anyways. If you intend to do some above the normal overclock,go with the z97 mobo,if not go with the h97,the cpu will work perfectly fine with both of them.
