Should my PC be in a power strip

I've had 2 power supplies that click on initial start up and I think it's the fact that it is plugged directly into the wall. I have a few power strips around that are about 15 years old but no surge protector.

Should I just have it in the power strip? It says surge supression on it but it's like 20 years old

First was an EVGA supernova b2 and my second was a P2.

I tried a different outlet but it still ticks.

The click is absolutely nothing to worry about, it is actually common on high ende power supplies. OklahomaWolf, Johnnyguru reviewer, in one of his latest reviews even said that so many users are concerned about the "tick" noise on startup and think it's bad when it's really nothing to worry about. It's just relay. I'm trying to find OklahomaWolf's quote.

My G2 ticks when I turn it on and off.

I found the quote, it says:

That black box on the far right is a relay. I'm mentioning it because I've seen people on forums stress out about their power supply making a clicking noise, thinking it's going to stab them in the face or something. It won't. It's a power supply, it can't move. The relay is usually used to short the NTC thermistor to improve efficiency. Some Gold units can get away without one, but most can't.

As said, the relay is an important component to having gold efficiency, and that's why this "tick" is on high end units.

I don't mean the noise when you click the power button, I mean a tiny tick that occurs in the morning mostly. It's a tiny tick that happens every 30 seconds or so
