Going to get straight to the point, had to retype this on a phone screen :(. Anyhow I need to know a good gpu that will not bottleneck my amd fx-6300. Also only have a 500watt psu. Please try to make sure it doesn't bottleneck, and it also will be used for minecraft with shaders and fallout 4. Also please list the alternative amd/nvidia card. Such as a gtx 960 would equal an amd r9 290, but make sure to tell me what one you would prefer. Thanks! Sorry for the vague details, had to retype this twice now because I lost wi-if connection at my house, then it made me retype everything.

if your PSU is a gold rated one, you'll be fine with an AMD r9 290 or a 390 (refresh version). The Nvidia equivalent of this card is a GTX 970, which is the choice I would go for if your PSU is bronze-rated just to be safe (but in theory you'd be fine with the 290 anyways)

I'll make you a little GPU tree.

GTX 960 < r9 380 < GTX 970 < r9 290/390.

Now it's all about the price you wanna pay for your card.

Honorable

GTX 960 < R9 380 < R9 290 < GTX 970 < R9 390

The 970 is faster than the 290 in pretty much any scenario I've ever seen.

Get the R9 380 if you want to maximum for your money. Anything higher than that will be bottlenecked by your CPU anyway. You could minimize bottleneck on the 290/970 with A LOT of OC but that's not really the way to go.

So either R9 380 or GTX 960 and out of these two, the R9 380 will be faster and is pretty much the best your CPU will be fine with. :)

While I do agree w/ your 380 recommendation, not exactly sure if the 970 is faster than the 290. I only say that because of the new Radeon Crimson drivers and their DX11 performance gains from the update. There needs o be more testing w/ these drivers on the older r9 2xx cards but with those gains (judging from the ones I got w/ my current 390x with that update) it might actually be on par with the GTX 970.

So what card should I go for, being on the safe side with the 500watt psu.
