Im really stuck on a GPU for a WinXP retro gaming PC

BUILD GOALS
1600x1200 Resolution
maxing out MOST games from 2006 and earlier
50+FPS dips are ok as long as its brief like an explosion or the like

these are what i have picked out
9800GTX
GTX260
GTX280
HD 6770

GTX460, i think a 460 wont be fully compatible win WinXP

so can you guys tell me (in detail if need be) what card will be best and what FPS they get at the said resolution in games from the said time period, and if there are any GPU's that i have missed that would be similar to the ones i have posted, i know this is a lot of info but thanks for any help

If going with a card from that era a 9800 GTX would be quite fitting.
A HD 3870 would also fit in that time period.

If it's more about the performance itself and you don't want a too recent card take a look at the GTX 200 & 400 or HD 5000 & 6000 series.
Like a GTX 285, GTX 460, GTX 470, HD 5850/70, HD 6950

For more modern cards somewhat around a GTX 650 Ti750/750 Ti or HD 7850, R7 260(X) should be more than suffecient.
I doubt there are benchmark results of "modern" cards on "old" games since they are usually benched with demanding time fitting titles.
