I'm looking at purchasing a new graphics card for around £250 - £350.
I currently have the MSI GTX 670 Power Edition, paired with a Intel i5 3570k and would like to get the best "bang for your buck".

I've looked at the GTX 970 and the GTX 980, but while the GTX 980 is probably the better choise, does it warrent the extra £100?

Any other graphics card sugestions are welcome...

Full PC Specs (For compatibility purposes):

CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K @ 3.40GHz

RAM:Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3

Motherboard:MSI ZH77A-G43 (Socket LGA1155)

Power Supply: Corsair Builder Series CX 600 Watt

GTX970 and R9 390 are just as future proof, they are exactly the same performance level! That is all that matters nothing magical is going to happen to either.
Witcher 3 970 beats AMD cards at 1080P http://www.techspot.com/review/1006-the-witcher-3-benchmarks/page4.html
Fallout 4 GTX 970 beats R9 390 at 1080P http://www.techspot.com/review/1089-fallout-4-benchmarks/page2.html
If we increase the resolution the 8GB Vram help the 390 to overtake the 970. So I say it again 1080P 970 higher res 390.

I would also recommend the R9 390 because A. I have had it for almost 6 months and it been working fantastically and B. It has 8 Gigs of VRAM which will last you at least 4 more years in the future and it also just has more power that the GTX 970.

(I know that the GTX 970 has a faster clock speeds, but thats why we have MSI Afterburner :) )

Anyways this is the card I own and it has been working fantastic, I can play The Witcher 3 on a mix of high and ultra settings and still get 50+ FPS

It depends what games, settings, and resolutions you are playing at. If you are playing difficult to run games such as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt or Far Cry 4, or at 4K/1440p, I would get the R9 390X. Otherwise I wouldn't advice spending the extra money unless you want to future proof.

Here is a guide on what GPU to choose:

I was watching a YouTube video about gaming graphics cards last night, and as the guy mentions in the video, you can fall into a trap of constantly looking for upgrades that cost you a small fortune and don't really make a noticeable difference to the gaming experience. And "future-proofing" is probably false economy, it doesn't matter how good the card you buy now is, within 6 months there will be another card released with higher specs, and you have to consider the law of diminishing returns; it's worth spending twice as much money on a graphics card that is x10 better, but is it worth spending twice as much on a card that is only 5% better? Within a year or two that card will cost less than your existing card.
