hi i want to increase the frequency to 2133mhz at least or more on my ram. i use a asus hero maximus 7 mother board, and 4x4 G.skill trident ddr3 memory on my system. i never done this before but i am familiar with changing voltages and cpu ratio on my processor. so please if someone can give me a run down on how to do this, im guessing it is the same as a cpu, i go into my bios and set the frequency and then adjust the voltage and check if it is stable, and then if it is not increse the voltage, is that how?

Solution
Generally you will know almost immediately if the RAM is stable at that speed or not. If it boots and operates normally, then it is stable.

If you like you could run memtest to test the RAM,
first downlaod cpu-z uses the memory tab and spd inf oto see what the xmp profile speed of your ram is. if it 2100 or faster and in already set in xmp profile. the go to the ai tab and change the dram speed to xmp profile one. save and reboot and see if it stable. if it not you may have to bump up the dram voltage.

thank you terry. im guessing that setting it to XMP will automatically adjust the voltage for you frequency target of 2133mhz?

should i test it with prime95? does that test the memory stability also? and does it make a difference what version i have on prime95?

also one last question, what threshold of voltages should i use for the dram voltage, whats the safe limit, to never go past?
