Mixing New and Old Ram

Hey so I wanna upgrade my ram right now I have 2 8gb Corsair Vengeance sticks I got about 2 years ago now can I buy another set of the same ram exact to the T..go to newegg recently purchased and buy the same ones again...will this work in my pc? Some people are telling me I should just buy 4 new sticks of 8gb

If the all the timing and voltage is the same you have an OK shot at it. BUT, mixing RAM is always a crap-shoot. If you buy a matched set of 4, then the vendor is giving some guarantee that they will all work together.
