Howdy! I recently installed a new MSI Z97 Gaming 5 motherboard and an Intel Core i7 4790k. Occasionally I lose signal from my GPU. The monitor says I have no signal but my computer stays on. The fans run as usual. This has only happened twice so far and it has been about 5 days since I installed the new components. It only seems to occur when I am gaming and the GPU is under load. I have checked drivers and everything seems up to date. This does not happen all the time. I played ark survival for 4 hours last night and everything was fine. However, after about an hour of Fallout 4 this morning the monitor lost the signal. Only way to get it back so far is to reboot. I do not get an error signal or report of any kind. The graphic card does exceed 65 degrees C that I know of. Anyone have any advice? Thanks!

I should have tested the cable first, didn't think of it. Might explain why I loose connection but still get audio like normal. Thanks! I am using HDMI.

an hdmi connector consists of pins, if there is something wrong with the cable it might not be the sound part/section of the header. Make sure to update me, let me know if I helped

I unplugged and reconnected the HDMI cord on the monitor side as well as the GPU side. I have also disconnected and reconnected the power cords to the GPU. The problem seems sporadic so I'm not sure yet if this has fixed the problem. I'll use the computer for a little bit and check back whether the problem has continued or not. Thanks for the replies!

I had a problem very similar to the one you describe and the solution to it was the power cables attached to GPU were loose and my card (Asus GTX 980) has two white lights that show the power is attached. When I put card in, I looked at them but the person I paid to look into the problem discovered the lights were flickering so the power to card wasn't constant. He made sure they were on tight and so far the problem has not happened again (though it was only fixed today so there is that).

It was so random, had new screen 4 weeks and it seemed to turn off once a week with no error messages.

Hope yours is fixed now :)
