Building new pc, BIOS questions

So I have an SSD from my current pc with Windows 10 pre installed (its the upgrade version so I can't just use a new key) and I will wipe everything on it other than the OS and I am going to use that in my new build. My concern is that I will have no disc drive. Do I need to update my motherboard drivers or can I just download those online. Also will the OS on my SSD be fine in my new pc? Any basic tips for setting up BIOS too? A lot of guides I've seen are outdated. Thanks.

Solution
Hello... NO.... it is standard DL software format "ISO"... youtube "WINDOWS 10 usb iso install"" is full of video instructions.

But you need to make a Windows OS "ISO" install "Bootable" to start the install environment.
Hello... 1) Pre downloading all needed drivers first to a USB stick will help speed things up.
2) Don't know till you plug it in and try it.
3) Typically the MB defaults will work... always save&exit when ever new hardware or setting is added to the MB for the change to be used on next boot.

No it will not. It'll punch, kick, scream, just basically throw a tantrum (and that's best case scenario). There are settings and drivers and other setup in the SSD for your current system. Once that gets changed, the OS will become very lost. I know of no work around other than reinstalling the OS

Everything is being changed other than the SSD

Do you have RETAIL or OEM win10? From "current pc with Windows 10 pre installed" I'm guessing OEM.

I have not tried moving win10 OEM, but the licence will be a problem. In theory with a new MB you are no longer on the PC with the win10 licence. Win10 computes a signature based on your MB and hardware that is sent back to MS and kept locally. Win10 checks this signature every boot and if its changed will fuss. If you do a fresh install on the new MB with the old serial number windows will fuss the next time it compares the signature/serial number to the stored copy at MS.

Retail win10 will move fine. Worse case you do a 'repair install' once the disk is in the new system.

Yes I am changing to intel from AMD. Ok getting a new copy of windows 10 is no problem for me, was just trying to save a bit. Question is how do I do this? Is it possible to download windows 10 from their store to a usb? any simple way to do this?

Alright, its not a retail windows 10, was an upgrade from 8.1 on my pc and the disk is no where to be found. Say I do put this ssd with windows 10 into my new pc with completely different parts, will it load up at all and allow me to purchase another key from there?

Hello... 2) Don't know till you plug it in and try it... your startup files are AMD configured.

I would do all this on a different good OS PC... You can buy Locally a retail version on a USB stick... Other wise all downloads will be required from Microsoft.

Do you have a friend to borrow a install DISK? you will have 30 days to activate.

You can leave the current SSD system disk content alone, put it in any supported MB including an AMD to intel swap, boot off the win10 install media and then do a 'repair install' to update the SSD's copy of win10 with the correct drivers for the current environment. (Assumes retail version of win10).

The only thing you can't do this way (AFAIK) is to convert from 32 to 64 bit.
