I'm out my depth and need some help.
So earlier today i installed a new SSD, cloned my hard drive stuff onto there and now I have the two of them. Now i wan't my SSD to be what windows boots from and all my programmes and so on so basically the new main drive sorta thing.

I went into the bios and changed the priority so the SSD is at the top but when i go to my computer

It seems like the old slower drive is still what windows is on. Also when i go to run Steam for example it says this

, i read that it's something to do with my drive letters perhaps but i can't seem to change the SSD to C: because the other one is C: however thats where my programmes are looking to right?
Also thought i'd mention i want to delete EVERYTHING of my hard drive after the SSD has windows and my programmes on, not really sure how to do that effectively without breaking things.

Really would appreciate some help, i know a fair bit but i'm now lost, thanks in advance.
Ps REALLY REALLY wouldn't like to be installing windows or really anything big for that matter.

Can you clarify what you mean when you say "set the bios for a good windows boot" I don't really understand that. Also after that i just save and exit with or without the old drive?

Ok I will run you through this.

What you have to do is rename the drive letters you see in windows.
Your primary boot drive with your os installed should be C:

And that is your problem if you cloned the OS from the original WD drive that you had with your os on it.
That before you cloned it to the SSD drive should or would of been the C: drive of your system. Yes ?

Can you verify if this was the case ?

In order to change the drive letters.
Simply click on start.

In the search box type: Disk Man.

Select format and create partitions.

In the window where all your drives are listed with drive letters. such as B: for the ssd drive
Right click and change drive letter.

Now you need to select a higher drive letter assignment so K:
select ok or apply.
Next you need to go to the drive C: and change that drive letter to example J:

Now go back to the drive you labeled as K:

And change it to C:
Then change drive J: drive to D:

Okay so i understand what you're saying, but when i go to change the hard drive (C:) to anything else it says

and so i can't change the SSD to then be C: if that makes sense.

I know I have cloned it correctly but will that fix the issue where my programmes are saying they can't open because they can't find the right path?

Alright, this is getting complicated. What I am going to do is shut down my PC, unplug the old drive, boot windows from the SSD and make sure its the number one drive in the priority and then attempt to change the drive letter to C: .

I'll report back with how it went asap.

[UPDATE] So, after reading all the advice I shut down my pc restarted it with just the SSD installed and tried to boot, i got to the bios and made sure it was the #1 but no further than that. Nothing would load up and it asked for the install media for windows. (not good as far as im aware) However once i shut my pc down again and plugged the Old hard drive back in windows booted up even though the SSD was still at the #1 slot.

I really am lost as to what to do right now it's a real mess, please can someone. Take me through how they think i should fix this, PM's would be appreciated to make this all easier.
