Dual Boot Win XP/Win7 Setup - Front USB Ports Don't Work In Win7 Only

So, this another small problem with the upgrade to Windows 7 on an older machine. (The major issue was an nvidia agp GPU that I was never able to get working correctly)

As the title implies, while running Windows 7, the two front USB ports do not work. The rear four USB ports do work. While running Windows XP though, they all work.

One other thing - when I power down the computer, for a very brief moment the flash drive, when left plugged in, does get recognized - and then the normal shutdown takes over .....

In device manager, everything shows as running fine. There are no yellow triangles or exclamation marks or anything.

Device Manager shows that I have five USB Root Hubs, four VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host Controllers and one VIA USB Enhanced Host Controller. They all have the same drive (number, anyway) 6.1.7601.17514

If anyone can offer me any help on how to enable the front ports, I would appreciate it!

thanx!

Could you please pass on your full systems specs? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling your chipset drivers while in Windows 7? Have you also made sure your BIOS is up to date? It's very likely that you're having driver conflicts so I'd suggest running your chipset/USB drivers in compatibility mode when in Windows 7.

Right click installer>Properties>Compatibility Tab>Windows XP [from the drop down menu]
