Trying to install an additional hard drive, not recognized in computer management, only appears in computer as an old CD Drive

I've been trying to install a new western digital 3tb hard drive alongside the 2tb hdd and 250gb ssd that I already have, but it doesn't seem to want to be detected properly by the computer. I've checked computer management and the only things that show up are the other bluray drive I have, the ssd, and the 2tb hdd.

I have switched around the sata and power cables with the other drives in an attempt to figure out if it was a problem with the wires, but ended up with the same results. The only difference I can tell when the hard drive is connected to the motherboard is that an old CD Drive shows up in my computer in windows. Now this drive is no longer connected in any way with the rest of the hardware, but it seems to only show up when I've tried to get this hard drive to work.

I am honestly at kind of a loss here, because when I got my ssd I just plugged in the two cables and it worked with no issues. I'm assuming this is some sort of conflict between whatever software I had/have installed for the old CD Drive and the new hard drive, but like I said, I honestly have no idea what to do at this point. If any more detailed information is necessary, let me know and I'd be glad to post it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Would I be correct in assuming that this drive was previously an external such as a WD My Book drive? If so that would have a Smartware partition which would appear to the system as a CD drive.

Try looking in Control Panel > Admin Tools > Computer Management > Drive Manager
and see what if the drive is showing up as in there. You might just need to format (assuming it's empty) or re-partition it to make it work.

My mistake, I probably should have specified these are all internal drives. I built a computer to play games on and now since my other hard drive is getting close to full I thought I might as well throw in another one because I figured it'd be simple enough. The only things showing up in computer management are the two drives I currently have, and the blu ray drive I also have hooked up.

This: http://www.amazon.com/Red-Desktop-Hard-Disk-Drive/dp/B008JJLW4M is the drive that I got, and I'm just now noticing that the other (2tb) one I have, which is also western digital, has a green label on it and not a red one. I have no idea if that's really relevant in getting help for this, but yeah. Forgive my ignorance, I am not very good with researching parts before I buy them. Also- (http://imgur.com/fhaye8U) again, not sure if it'll be of any help but that's what I'm trying to describe. This was taken with the drive theoretically at full power and hooked up to the motherboard. I'm not aware of a way to check if a hard drive is adequately powered and connected, so I'm just assuming it is at this point.
