Hi,

I have a 5tb western digital external that i converted to internal that worked fine as a secondary drive. Like a month ago that windows 10 was installed on my computer, after the first boot the drive became corrupted.

I get multiple error codes when I try to open the drive. one is.
.............................................
D:\ is not accessible.

The drive cannot find the sector requested
..............................................

Second error I get is.
..............................................
D:\ is not accessible

The parameter is incorrect.
..............................................

I have tried running CHKDSK D: /F /R
as i found it on some forum.
after I ran it I get the error message.

Insufficient disk space to fix master file table (MFT) CHKDSK aborted.

I can not lose the information from that drive.
I can access the drive via M3 or EaseUS to get the files out, but i need all my files and i dont know where else to store them. This was my main backup.

Can anyone tell me how I can fix this drive without loosing my files.

thank you and happy 2016!!!

Hey there, Johnny! Happy New Year to you as well!!!

Sorry to hear about the issues you're having with your HDD. Usually it's not advisable for you to run any disk scans or checks, when your drive is having issues, as if there's hardware damage, this could make things worse. All your energy and everything you try should be focused on data recovery.
It's pretty unfortunate that this is your only copy of the data you have. Even if the drive is physically OK and we're talking about corrupted partitions, it would still be the best option to clone the drive and work on the clone with data recovery software. Unfortunately it's pretty risky for you to run master file table recovery/repair software (partition table repair software), but I'm afraid that if you don't have another drive to store your recovered data to, there are no other options. So search the web for programs which are able to repair partition tables, to see if you have any luck with that.

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.

You could check out this thread: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1644496/lost-data-recovery.html and this article as well: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/filerecovery/tp/free-file-recovery-programs.htm. I'm sorry but as an official WD representative I can't recommend any 3rd party programs in particular.
I hope that one of the options proves helpful and you're able to get to your files.
