OK. Bit of an ongoing saga with my machine. It all started when I tried to install a new GTX 970 to replace my old GTX 570. I had real trouble getting the computer to recognize the new card. I updated the BIOS, checked all the power cables etc etc and eventually got it working for a short period. At this time the PC wouldn't boot first time. It was only when I powered off and back on that it would boot. It was like this for about 3 days, I was also getting BSOD every 2 or 3 hours. The next day....I was getting BSOD while trying to boot windows every time. Didn't matter which SATA setting I chose in BIOS...always BSOD. I eventually solved this by completely wiping the hard drive and installing Windows 10 through a usb flash drive. This worked and I enjoyed completely glitch free gaming with my gtx 970 fully drivered up without so much as a hiccup for another 3 days. So.....I go away for a few days over New Year, get back, switch on the machine and........

Now it won't even boot past the MB manufacturer's logo. I can't get into BIOS, getting into Windows is a dreamland. I've tried resetting the BIOS with the jumper, unplugged the GPU and all the ram sticks (this resulted in just a black screen on startup) with the RAM back in and the GPU back in I'm back to square one. With only the MB and RAM I still get black screen. It seems I can only get a display with the GPU in. I've now just removed the BIOS battery and left it without power for about 30 mins while I write this up. What I'm really struggling with is the fact that I had it fixed without a problem for 3 days and just the act of the PC being idle for a few days while I was away has caused complete system failure. I'm just about ready to throw it all out the window and buy a new one.

My Setup:
MB = ECS Z77H2-A3 (V1.2) Intel quad x 3.50 ghz
GPU = Nvidia GTX 970
16GB ram (4x4GB)
PSU = 1000w Enhance EPS - 1210GA2
HDD = WD15EARX SATA 1.5Tb
Windows 10

I've had a similar issue and fixed it by restoring a disk image. I think the problem lies with Windows 10 forced updates and the Nvidia driver, which would explain why reinstalling the OS cured it for awhile until it updated again. You might try reinstalling the OS again to get it going and then disable the driver updates. You can do this by going to Control Panel>System>Advanced System Settings>Hardware tab>Device installation settings and Check the "No" box.

Thanks Bad, but I'm afraid that at the moment getting into Windows is an impossible dream. I can't even get into BIOS. It won't go past the ECS logo. It won't let me press f7 for the boot options so I can't reinstall windows. :(
