Windows 10 Code 43, but not when using integrated graphics

I had SLI working literally 2 hours ago and everything was fine. I decided to swap my graphics cards, because I was suspicious of the outputs on one of them not working correctly. Then everything went to Mars. Now, whenever I boot into Windows, it actually uses the integrated graphics. If I try to open the Nvidia control panel, it won't open. It never even is seen in the system tray (bottom right corner). The device manager says Code 43. Also, only my 1 monitor works (HDMI) while my other does not (Displayport).

Now everything completely changes if I boot with Integrated graphics. The Intel HD graphics show up in the system tray (as it should, though it did not before). The Nvidia control panel also works, for some unknown reason. And, on top of all that, even though I had to plug in a third monitor for the integrated graphics (DVI), the other two monitors were working, even though they were plugged in through the graphics cards.

My Nvidia drivers were up to date, but the last update was installed a week ago. Each graphics card worked independently before, in either slot. This very nearly had me pulling my hair out. I'm about to attempt booting into Linux Mint to see if it works in there, which would confirm a Windows issue (which I am hoping for).

Intel i5 4690K @4.5GHz
2x MSI GTX 970
MSI gaming 5 mobo

Windows 10 is still having massive issues with graphics cards and drivers. I've seen numerous Code 43 problems where a clean install with automatic update disabled fixes every issue. I'd have tried to disable integrated graphics in the Bios and force it to look for the cards honestly. I've had issues with mine currently where with the latest Nvidia update it won't read fan speed and everything gets choppy and windows wanted to continuously update it as well as huge SLI issues and Raid issues.

Update: Linux had no hiccups whatsoever with both monitors. I'm back on integrated graphics to investigate some more, and while in this mode, the graphics cards no longer have Code 43.

For unconfirmed reasons, everything works again (including SLI). The only thing I did different was open the Nvidia control panel while in integrated graphics, closed it, and restarted with the grahpics cards enabled. I am not impressed with Windows right now, haha. Hope this helps someone else.

I'm picking this as a solution so it'll be posted as solved.

And yeah, I've been having quite a few issues with W10 in general. If W7 was still supported and have DX12, I would've bought a key just to switch to that. Sometimes my start menu doesn't open, or the list/tiles are invisible. It's pushing me really hard to Linux, and I would've completely switched if it weren't for all my games.

Anyway, cheers. : )
