Hello. This is going to be my first time purchasing and using a smartphone and I was wondering:

Which one of these companies do you guys think would offer the best data plans for price and performance?

Solution
Depends on your area. In general, after using and seeing a few of the services used, Verizon then AT&T, the others are not close. Of-course those are two of the pricier ones. There are also services like Straight Talk and Metro PCS that are a lot cheaper but also with quite a bit worse service coverage and data speeds. That may be OK with you though as the savings can be half or more. You can get a Straight Talk or Metro PCS plan with 2-3 gig of 4G data and unlimited slower data for $40. Same thing from the major carriers is double or more.

What you may want to do is track down an unlocked Verizon phone, then use that with Straight Talk. If that does not work for you, you can use that same phone and activated it on Verizon...

Verizon is more expensive but I have had by far better coverage and data service with them than others. I'd have people with Sprint or AT&T sitting next to me, they have no service, I'm at almost full bars.
