I have a WD 1Tb Blue HDD and installed Ubuntu on it. Installation went well but quickly came up with an error. I also had installed Windows in a separate partition but now can not access anything other than the Ubuntu error message.
I would like to totally wipe everything off the drive and start again, minus Ubuntu this time. Any ideas regarding available software that will do this?

Hey there, Ray! Happy New Year!!! :D

You can reformat the whole drive by using your Windows installation media. Just start as is you'd normally do when installing Windows and when the drive is detected, delete all the partitions and format one for your OS and continue with the installation. Check out this tutorial: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/installing-reinstalling-windows#1TC=windows-7 and more specifically the Using the Custom installation option and formatting the hard disk option. This is for Windows 7 as I don't know which version of Windows you have, but the process is basically the same for the newer versions as well.

Other that, you could connect the drive to a different computer as a secondary storage...

Other that, you could connect the drive to a different computer as a secondary storage HDD and reformat it or wipe it clean. After that you can just go ahead and connect it to your computer again so that you can start from scratch.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.
