Hi,

I am building my first PC. Everything went well during installation but when i booted the computer, there was no DVI signal and it stayed this way for several minutes until i turned it off. I then saw the sticky post in this forum and tried to troubleshoot. I went through steps 1-10 but it did not solve the problem.

I then tried breadboarding it by removing the motherboard from the case and placing it on my graphics card cardboard box. I tried to power on with one ram at a time but this time round the cpu went into a restart loop (CPU fan rev up to what seemed like maximum power for 3 seconds then revs down to a stop and then the whole cycle repeats). I also noticed that the lights on my motherboard, PSU and case LED all turned off and on during the restart loop.

I will troubleshoot again tomorrow. Any suggestions what could be the issue and what else I should try?

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi

What cpu, motherboard and bios version?
The cpu must be supported by motherboard and bios

Try resetting cmos ( using jumper ) this sometimes cures similar problem

Double check the 12v atx (4 pin) or eps ( 8 pin) power plug is connected as well as 24 pin main plug from psu

Once you have checked the above

If you have a dual bios try setting jumper for backup bios chip to be main boot bios, in case the bios is corrupted

My CPU is a i5-6600 with a Gigabyte H170n-wifi. I tried resetting CMOS and I'm sure that both the 4pin ATX and 24pin main plug is plugged in. However, none of this solve my issue..

Is anyone else able to help? I have a feeling it's my CPU. I get the same restart loop with just power + CPU + CPU fan + motherboard

I'm doing the same build and am having the same problem.... Already had the mobo replaced with a new one. Please help! Also shorted the jumpers to reset BIOS. Still continuous reboot with no display.
