Can I reuse my old CPU cooler?

I recently swapped out my old mobo/cpu/ram for a new setup. It was socket am2+, and upon reading bad reviews about the stock cpu cooler, I went for a thermaltake tr2-r1 ( http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00002006 ).

So here's my predicament: my new rig is an AM3+ setup. From what I've read, AM3+ brackets are supposed to be backwards compatible with coolers, but I haven't been able to find any info about that one cooler. It actually looks like I should have more room on the new mobo... But am I stuck finding out the hard way or does anyone have insight on this?

Ah, well, I guess I overlooked the wattage rating... My fx-6350 is 125W, but something is overheating and shutting my system down on factory settings. The thermaltake is, at least by my inspection, much bigger and better designed than the factory cooler...
