Hello everyone hope you can help. I tried updating a friends computer yesterday, i have both versions of windows 7 32 and 64 bit. I was not sure what version he needed so i tried 32 bit first and got this message The error message says " The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running." I know its Win 7 ULT because it has the serial number on the actual case. I finally saw it was 64 bit in small font also on the case i tried installing 64 bit of Win 7 ULT but i got the same error message, im formating before i install any version am i doing anything wrong i cant seem to get it working unless its the video card thats not letting me install this version, this PC was running windows 7 before my friend got a virus thats why i was there.

" The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running."

It appears you are trying to run that install from an already running Windows instance.

Boot from that install media and install, rather than attempting to 'upgrade' from within the existing OS.
