What mobo and CPU? If Intel 1156 or newer, go into BIOS and enable XMP, select profile 1 and the BIOS will set the sticks up for you to 1600 if the CPU can handle 1600. If older Intel, i.e. socket 775 it's a little more complicated. If AMD can look for XMP, DOCP, EOCP and do same or set up manually.

Try manual set up to 9-9-9-24 or add + 0.05 to the DRAM voltage and raise the CPU/NB voltage to 1.2 if leaving the 8-8-8- timings
