Hi Everyone!

I was thinking a few weeks now about ddr4 upgrade.
Currently I own a 4670k cpu with a good mitx mobo and ram.
Now that the ddr4 prices are the same as the ddr3 i was wondering about upgradig my rig to skylake but I really can't decide.

Mainly I use my pc for gaming and average tasks, nothing extraordinary.
Does it worth the upgrade?

Please help! :D

Many thanks!

In short, no. Fast RAM has virtually no difference in gaming. The only time it is apparent is if you are attempting 90+FPS on one of those fast monitors, the 120 or 144 FPS ones. Even then, when the frame rate coming out of the PC is 100+ FPS the fast RAM will only help a couple percent. Not really worth even when it is measurable.

The Skylake is faster than your 4670K, but only 5 to 8% at most. Not worth spending many hundreds of dollars.

Thats what I'm thinking too.
Ddr4 only not worth it. But on the other hand the more I wait the more the upgrade will cost, besause my current parts will worth less.
But maybe I'll just switch to a 4790k or 4770k and I'll be good for a few years.

DDR4 is absolutely not worth upgrading for, neither is going to Skylake from Haswell; particularly if we're just talking gaming since what you have now is plenty. http://multimonitorcomputer.com/solved/ddr3-vs-ddr4-gaming.php
