Hello,

I recently purchased an Intel i5-6500 and ASRock B150MPro4S/D3 motherboard. OS is windows 8.

I was originally using an AMD 760k CPU and MSI A88XM-E45 motherboard.

The first time I booted, everything loaded up to the log-in screen but for some reason the keyboard and mouse do not work. The keyboard worked on start-up and I was abled to get into the bios to perform an update... Now the keyboard and mouse do not work at all, I can't get into the Bios. I have no idea what to do.

I have used all usb 2.0 and 3.0 connections, front and back (there is a ps2 connection, but I have not got the correct keyboard). The mouse and keyboard light up.

Solution

Reminds me of the problem I had in the past :). Keep this in mind, worst...

Reminds me of the problem I had in the past :). Keep this in mind, worst case scenario, mobo might be defective coz ur situation is exactly the same thing I experience when I bought my fisrt mobo (ASRock Z97 Extreme 6).

Try this:

Shut down your computer, make sure everything is off, then unplug all the USB devices. Once your PC boots up in the Windows login screen plug in ur USB devices again, and im positive they should work again, any usb ports is fine..

Some questions, when you open your computer, can you press F2 to go into the BIOS menu or is it just straight frozen?

Accidentally selected your answer as 'best answer', screwed up there... seems odd I can't undo that now.

The problem isn't solved, turning off the pc and unplugging everything did not solve my problem upon plugging everything back in at log-in.

I can't press F2 to get into BIOS, I could the first try I tried, now I can't. The boot up says... "press F2 for BIOS", but nothing happens if you press it.

Oh shoot, lmao, its all good.

Have you tried resetting your CMOS? Usually after you reset it, most problems will go away, will in my case it did, but can you try resetting the CMOS, and once thats done, let me know if you can access your BIOS menu.

Yeah I think the mods are the only one that can remove the "best answer" thingy.

Ok, I'm following this website as a guide, I can't get into the BIOS and the motherboard didn't come with a jumper.

So I've removed the battery and am now waiting for 5 mins.

and the battery is back in... (had a minor freak out when the display wouldn't come on, as I had unplugged the cpu power).

But hey! I'm in the BIOS. What should I do now?

Edit: Hey, so I changed some settings in the BIOS, updated something... uh basically thanks for the CMOS reset advice. You can keep the best answer status :p, you've been very helpful

Thank you!

How's the USB mouse/keyboard, are they working fine now? :D
