okay guys, my friend wants me to build him a pc, and he has a old pc that I'm gonna use the Harddrive out of to put in his new one, I was wondering if I could use the product key that's on the side of his old PC on his new one
I will be using them same harddrive so could I do it where im sing the samedrive it was installed on in the first place ?

An OEM license is locked to the identity of the motherboard of the first computer it is installed on, it is not transferable. There is one exception; Microsoft will sometimes allow an OEM license to be transferred to an identical motherboard if the original was damaged. Also, it is very common for Microsoft to issue a new activation key if your copy of Windows has been erroneously deactivated; this sometimes happens when a new graphics card is installed.

No, I believe OEM OS's are tied to the motherboard.
