I'm looking at buying the H97 board stated above with an i5 4590 or 4690 but I've been hearing a lot of things regarding certain motherboards needing a BIOS update to be able to work with said CPU's. Is it compatible straight out of the box or do I have to do something else as well?

Solution
You do need to have the F2 bios for either of those CPU's to work. Thats a pretty early bios, and its a 9 series board so chances are it'll have support out of the box, but the only way to tell is once you have it in your hands. If you're worried about it not working make sure to buy from a place with a good return policy. Amazon will pay for return shipping and no restocking fee on an item that doesn't work, but they cost more for motherboard than say Newegg.

Thanks for your answer! Do you have an opinion on which CPU I should get. Here in Australia the price difference is about $30 AUD (I guess about 22 USD), is the 200MHz worth the extra money?
