Whenever I get that feeling to go back and play some of my classic childhood games - I'm forever reminded of a game I played off one of the PC Gamer (or something similar) demo discs.

I've never had any luck on trying to track what it was, or if it was ever fully released... but perhaps someone on this board would - I'd love to play it properly to see why, of all games, this one has stuck in my memory all these years.

- It would have been between '96 and '00 (90% sure)
- It played like an open world action rpg
- My memory remembers the game looking vaguely in style and graphics, to Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, but notably darker... I distinctly remember a day / night cycle that would make the game very ominous to play as a child.
- The game was only a demo, and I remember being able to bring up the world map (which resembled your typical sepia toned medieval map), and seeing that only a small part of the map was accessible. It may have even prompted you to buy / wait for the full release if you ran too far in one direction - but I may be mistaken there.
- There may have been some minor survival mechanics (eating food, etc).

It's really not a lot to go on, but any leads or ideas would be amazing.
