So I am build a new "Console" base rig. And I've got a outline of what will be included. I wanted to see if I could get a bit a feedback concerning the parts. Primarily the PSU, CPU cooler, and possibly the MOBO.

First off I went with a i5 Skylake instead of the i7 because I will be using this PC strictly for entertainment uses. So I thought I save a couple of bucks on the CPU.

I went with Gigabyte because they are good. Wanted to go with an ASUS ROG the new Maximus XIII. But the cost and the lack of an M2 really bothered and most folks say you are mostly paying and xtra 80 for the name.

Case looks great went with the black vents instead of the clear, because they came with dust filters. Which I can't understand why silverstone would not have done the same with clear version

I am wondering regarding PSU. If anyone knows if I should be good as far as power consumption.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Below is a list of everything included in my latest creation.

Thanks!

Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor (Skylake)
Noctua NH-L9i 57.5 CFM CPU Cooler

drop down to 8gb of ram if all you want to do is game

you are not going to run a 980 ti on that power supply

though "cute" that case is going to strangle your gaming options

pointless going with a overclockable i5 as well, unless you also get an AIO cpu cooler

as it stands you should run a gtx 970 max

The whole purpose of the case was to build and compact case. With that said below is the what I am currently gaming. So now I'm thinking instead is moving the 970 to the new build and moving the 980 ti into the current build. Because the 250D has great venting. And upgrade the PSU to a 700W. For the Raven case to instead of going from a i5 skylake to i7 to compensate since maybe the 980ti would run to hot. (However if I get a GPU that has a blower instead that might work) I've seen a few rigs that have actually run the 980ti.

Thoughts?

And then there is this. http://www.techspot.com/review/1062-silverstone-raven-rvz02/page3.html

I might instead just go for the challenge of dropping a 980ti into the case and see what happens.

i would love to see their gaming experience under full load, if they get lucky their power supply just gives out prematurely and doesnt take anything else with it

you really want 650w minimum for a 980 ti

500w would be fine for a gtx 970

great choice on the monitor though, I have the same and they are flawless XD

Yeah I agree with with you on the PSU. I'll upgrade the unit. cooling was my other concern mostly but most reviewers are saying that cooling isn't bad. So that's good. PC part picker give me a usage of 433W so Im going to get the 600W that silverstone makes. I hear that there is a 700W coming soon. Any thoughts on skylake i5 vs i7?
